Whether it’s strong wi-fi, even stronger coffee, a quiet space or fresh air and sunshine, here’s a guide to some of UCI’s most popular study spots. Is your favorite study lounge missing? Let us know @ucirvine!
Anteaters give the science library high marks thanks to plenty of natural light flowing from oversized windows and more than 30 private study rooms. The library’s 4th, 5th and 6th floors contain designated quiet study zones — so please silence your cell phone and take the convo outside. It’s open 7am-2am during most of finals week.
The second floor of Gateway Study Center houses a computer lab, study rooms, and collaborative workspaces. The center offers 13 study rooms that can be booked in advance. Plus, it’s open 24/7 now through finals week!
If you like your study spaces loaded with the latest technology and plush, comfy seating, look no further than UCI’s brand new Anteater Learning Pavilion. Private study rooms feature large shared screens for content that can be displayed wirelessly from your laptop or mobile device. The hallways feature a mix of group tables and chairs and benches. Open spaces include long seating and individual work spaces with power outlets provided throughout.
If you prefer fresh air and sunshine to the indoor vibe of a library, then pack your books and some SPF and grab a blanket (or hammock!) and set up an al fresco study lounge in the park. It’s a perennial favorite of solo studiers and groups.
Take your coffee and treats to go from nearby Starbucks and Au Bon Pain and step outside to the LED light-stringed plaza of the Paul Merage School of Business. The courtyard includes cool features like a six-foot steel monument that serves as a windbreak and heat generated from beneath the surface of the plaza.
